Introduction to Fencing Course
The introductory course runs for 6 weeks (usually on Monday evenings) and costs £55.00 per participant. This includes the use of the club's fencing kit during the course. Please email us via the Contacts & Fees page.
Introduction to Fencing Course Contents
- Explanation of the 3 weapons (Foil, Epée, and Sabre).
- Explanation of the Target Area for each weapon.
- Safety ruled for fencing.
- Basic On Guard position.
- The importance of Footwork (movement).
- How to carry the weapon.
- The 4 On Guard posititons (Sixte, Quarte, Septime, and Octave).
- Simple Attacks.
- Basic Parries.
- Introduction to a competitive bout.
- Introduction to Fencing Time and Fencing Etiquette.
Fencing Achievement Awards
Fencing Achievement Awards can be undertaken in all weapons for the British Academy of Fencing and The British Fencing Association.
